18. Do the municipality and CMERS keep dual records or is the MERF Plan, similar to State Teacher’s Plan, which is completely administered by the State?

The municipality must keep records such as payroll, leave, position, etc. so that CMERS can properly determine and verify pension and related benefits. After the employee retires, CMERS keeps the appropriate records unless the municipality offers the retiree health insurance, life insurance or other benefits.
