14. What is the annual contribution limit?
Each year the IRS sets an annual contribution limit, which places a limit on the total contributions one can make to the 457 plan. The limit applies to pre-tax contributions, Roth contributions, and the sum of the two
There are special provisions allowing select participants to contribute more than the annual contribution limit. Participants in one of the below groups can contribute an additional amount:
- Participants who will be Age 50+ by the end of the year
- Participants who will attain Ages 60-63 by the end of the year
- Participants who are participating in the special catch-up provision
Note: You can only participate in one catch-up option per calendar year
