Comptroller Sean Scanlon On Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary’s Decision Not To Seek Reelection
(HARTFORD, CT) – Comptroller Sean Scanlon released the following statement after Waterbury Mayor Neil O’Leary today announced he will not be seeking reelection:
“For more than a decade, Mayor Neil O’Leary has served as Waterbury’s mayor, but public service and dedication to his community is something he has spent his entire life doing. Possessing an unmatched love for his city, Waterbury’s progress under his leadership is both extremely visible and incredibly remarkable. While I have gotten to know Neil over the years and am proud to call him a friend, I know that in addition to being a mayor, he’s a devoted father and husband. Given the sacrifices he has made for his community, I hope that whatever exciting chapter is next for him allows him to spend some more continuing to be both. Connecticut and Waterbury are stronger and safer for having had Neil O’Leary as mayor.”
