This is a graph showing sources of Health Insurance Coverage for Connecticut's Non-Elderly Population in 1997. Note: The totals add to more than 100 percent because individuals may receive coverage from more than one source. 33.4 percent of Connecticut's Non-elderly population obtained health insurance through their own employer; 40.8 percent of Connecticut's Non-elderly population obtained health insurance through a family member's employer; 4.9 percent of Connecticut's Non-elderly population obtained health insurance through a private source; 7.5 percent of Connecticut's Non-elderly population obtained health insurance through the Medicaid program; 2.5 percent of Connecticut's Non-elderly population obtained health insurance through a public program other than Medicaid; and 13.8 percent of Connecticut's Non-elderly population were uninsured.
