The meeting began at 2:43 p.m.
The Subcommittee discussed the following claims that had been
administratively denied by the Retirement Services Division. All of the
recommendations are unanimous unless noted accordingly.
Eric Egan -
Request received from Mr. Egan that he be allowed to purchase his prior military
service beyond the one year deadline of the commencement of his state service.
Action: Mr. McLellan moved, seconded by Ms. Brown-Brewton to recommend approval of Mr. Egan’s late request to purchase his prior military service.
Gary Fredericks - Request received from Mr. Fredericks that he be allowed
to transfer his SERS plan membership from Tier II to Tier I and purchase all of
his prior service.
Action: Ms. Brown-Brewton moved, seconded by Mr. McLellan to recommend denial of Mr. Frederick’s request to transfer his SERS membership from Tier II to Tier I.
James Lautier - Request received from Mr. Lautier that he be allowed to
grandfather his normal retirement age beyond the July 1, 2013 deadline
associated with this opportunity provided by the SEBAC 2011 agreement.
Action: Ms. Brown-Brewton moved, seconded by Mr. Casella
to recommend a denial of the request made by Mr. Lautier to grandfather his
normal retirement change beyond the deadline of July 1, 2013. Mr. McLellan
dissented. Majority decision.
Alba Morris - Request received from Ms. Morris that she receive
retirement credit for a period of service from November 1, 2000 to July 26, 2001
rendered as a part-time lecturer.
Action: Mr. McLellan moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend approval of Ms. Morris’ request that she receive retirement credit for her period of service as a part-time lecturer from November 1, 2000 to July 26, 2001.
Debra Rashid (Deceased) - Request received for Retirement Commission
approval of a late non-service connected disability retirement application filed
on behalf of deceased employee Debra Rashid.
Action: Ms. Brown-Brewton moved, seconded by Mr. McLellan to recommend denial of the application for non-service connected disability retirement for deceased employee Debra Rashid.
