The meeting began at 2:35 p.m.
The Subcommittee discussed the following claims that had been administratively denied by the Retirement Services Division. All of the recommendations are unanimous unless noted accordingly.
Angela Diaz - Ms. Diaz appeared before the Trustees. Ms. Diaz requested that the Retirement Services Division accept her date of retirement of June 1, 2011 as the date that her disability retirement benefit payment commenced rather than April 1, 2014, the first of the month following her employing agency?s payout of her accruals.
Action: Mr. Coffey moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend denial of Ms. Diaz?s request that her disability retirement benefit payment commence June 1, 2011.
Patricia Erickson - Request received from Ms. Erickson that the Division reconsider the action that it took with her disability retirement benefit pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes, Section 5-192p.
Action: Mr. Coffey moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend to the Retirement Commission that it refer this matter to the Legal and Personal Subcommittee.
Eva Golobiewski - Request received from Ms. Golobiewski that she be allowed to transfer her SERS plan membership from Tier II to Tier I.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of Ms. Golobiewski?s request to transfer her SERS plan membership from Tier II to Tier I.
Linda Guzzo - Request received from Linda Guzzo that she be allowed to transfer her SERS plan membership from Tier II to Tier I.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of Ms. Guzzo?s request that she be allowed to transfer her SERS plan membership from Tier II to Tier I.
Leslie Hyman - Request received from Leslie Hyman that the Retirement Commission review the denials of her application for a non- service connected disability by the Medical Examining Board and determine to afford her another opportunity to go before the MEB for consideration.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of the Ms. Hyman's request for another opportunity for her application for non-service connected disability retirement to go before the MEB.
Archie Robertson - Request received from Archie Robertson that the Retirement Commission review the denials of her application for a service connected disability by the Medical Examining Board and determine to afford him another opportunity to go before the MEB for consideration.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of the Mr. Robertson?s request for another opportunity for his application for service connected disability retirement to go before the MEB.
Walter Walenski (Deceased) - Request received from Mr. Walenski?s widow that she receive a continuation of the retirement benefit as the surviving spouse based upon the 50% to spouse income payment option Mr. Walenski had elected at the time of his retirement in 1989.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of the request by Ms. Walenski for a continuation of Walter Walenski?s benefit as she was the surviving spouse.
