MEDICAL EXAMINING BOARD
FRIDAY, December 15, 2017

A Meeting of the Medical Examining Board was held on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Office of the State Comptroller, 55 Elm Street, Room 208, Hartford, Connecticut, 06106.

Please note that a portion of the meeting was conducted in executive session as the focus of the meeting was the medical condition(s) of each Disability Retirement applicant.

CALL TO ORDER

The Chairperson called meeting to order at 9:01 am.

Dr. Rudich motioned to go into the Executive Session to discuss medical condition(s) related to the applications for Disability Retirement, seconded by Dr. Lieders at 9:08 am. Members of the Retirement Services Division and the General Counsel to the Commission were invited to stay during Executive Session. There was a brief break at 10:50 am until 10:57 am.

1. Richard Silkoff and his wife, Lori Silkoff, appeared before the Board at 11:00 am. Lori Silkoff read a statement and then, they were excused by the Board at 11:04 am.
2. Brunilda Arbelo, wife of Felix Arbelo, and Lori Suvrizi appeared before the Board at 11:06 am. Mrs. Arbelo read a statement, and then they were excused by the Board at 11:11 am.
3. Lynette Berger and Attorney Russell Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 11:12 am. Attorney Zimberlin made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 11:15 am.
4. Kim Dullivan and Attorney Russell Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 11:18 am. They made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 11:29 am.
5. Scott Gorman and Attorney Russell Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 11:44 am. They made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 11:52 am.
6. Stephanie Hawthorne, her husband David Bessette, and Attorney Russell Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 11:53 am. Ms. Hawthorne and Attorney Zimberlin made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 12:02 pm.
7. Robert Herrick appeared before the Board at 12:06 pm. He made a statement and was excused by the Board at 12:12 pm.
8. Johnny Jackson and Attorney Meaghan Murphy appeared before the Board at 12:16 pm. They made statements and then they were excused by the Board at 12:20 pm.
9. Stanislaw Jarosz, his wife Myra Jarosz, and Attorney Winona Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 12:21 pm. Attorney Zimberlin made a statement and they were excused by the Board at 12:27 pm.
10. Mark Lemaire, husband of Karen Lemaire appeared before the Board at 12:30 pm. Mr. Lemaire read a statement and was excused by the Board at 12:38 pm.
11. Paula Mitchell and Attorney Winona Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 12:39 pm. Attorney Zimberlin made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 12:44 pm.
12. Amy Veilleux, wife of Anthony Veilleux appeared before the Board at 12:45 pm. She made a statement and was excused by the Board at 12:46 pm.
13. Attorney David Morrissey, on behalf of Lee Weid, appeared before the Board at 12:47 pm. He was then excused by the Board at 12:48 pm.

Dr. Rudich motioned to come out of Executive Session, seconded by Dr. Lieders 12:50 p.m.

Dr. Rudich moved, seconded by Dr. Lieders, to stand by the Board?s previous decision to deny Kim Dullivan?s entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Rudich moved, seconded by Dr. Lieders, to deny Sheryl Garrison?s entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.
