MEDICAL EXAMINING BOARD
FRIDAY, APRIL 6, 2018

A Meeting of the Medical Examining Board was held on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Office of the State Comptroller, 55 Elm Street, Room 208, Hartford, Connecticut, 06106.

Please note that a portion of the meeting was conducted in executive session as the focus of the meeting was the medical condition(s) of each Disability Retirement applicant.

CALL TO ORDER

The Chairperson called meeting to order at 9:04 am.

Dr. Lieders motioned to go into the Executive Session to discuss medical condition(s) related to the applications for Disability Retirement, seconded by Dr. Blum at 9:05 am. Members of the Retirement Services Division and the General Counsel to the Commission were invited to stay during Executive Session. Melinda Powell left the meeting at 9:32 am and returned at 9:36 a.m., and then, Ms. Powell left the meeting at 9:39 a.m. There was a brief break at 11:31 am until 11:35 am.

1. Deborah Ellingsworth and Attorney Paul Daddario appeared before the Board at 11:37 am. They made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 11:49 am.
2. Michael Buechele appeared before the Board at 11:55 am. Mr. Buechele made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 12:02 p.m.
3. Dawn Curtis and Felicia Paul appeared before the Board at 12:05 pm. Ms. Curtis made a statement, and then they were excused by the Board at 12:10 pm.
4. Dana Goldberg and Anthony Goldberg appeared before the Board at 12:15 pm. Ms. Goldberg made a statement, and then they were excused by the Board at 12:28 pm.
5. Darlene Graf appeared before the Board at 12:29 pm. She made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 12:38 pm. 6. Cathie Keeler appeared before the Board at 12:41 pm. She made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 12:45 pm.
7. Leah Margentino, Lori Margentino and Attorney Russell Zimberlin appeared before the Board at 12:46 pm. Leah Margentino and Attorney Zimberlin made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 12:55 pm.
8. Leah Margentino, Lori Margentino and Attorney Russell Zimberlin reappeared before the Board at 12:59 pm. Leah Margentino and Attorney Zimberlin made an additional statement and then they were excused by the Board at 1:02 pm.
9. Kenneth Matthews and Jannie Matthews appeared before the Board at 1:03 pm. Mr. Matthews made a statement and then was excused by the Board at 1:12 pm.
10. Amy Royer appeared before the Board at 1:15 pm. Ms. Royer made a statement and then they were excused by the Board at 1:20 pm.

Dr. Lieders motioned to come out of Executive Session, seconded by Dr. Blum 1:23 p.m.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Blum, to approve Helen Beaudry?s entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

JANICE BLUE         D- 12365         SERVICE-CONNECTED
Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Blum, to deny Janice Blue?s entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement, however, the Board would look favorably upon Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

MICHAEL BUECHELE         MD- 1539         SERVICE-CONNECTED
Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Blum, to approve Michael Buechele?s entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

LISA CATANIA         D- 12346         NON-SERVICE CONNECTED
Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Blum, to approve Lisa Catania?s entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Lieders moved, seconded by Dr. Blum, to approve Teresa Coope?s entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.
