State Comptroller Nancy Wyman's improvements to the state's retirement-savings plans have been awarded for excellence by The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA).
The award stems from creation of a "Total Account Management" program that allows the plans' 44,000 participants to manage their retirement accounts on an ongoing basis. The retirement plans - Deferred Compensation, 403(b) and the Alternate Retirement Plan - are administered by the Comptroller's Retirement and Benefits Services Division and have a combined value of about $2.4 billion.
"I am proud that this program has made a real difference for participants and has elevated our savings plans to the cutting-edge of available investment products and services," Wyman said.
In announcing the award, NAGDCA said: "By taking advantage of all the educational opportunities included within this program, participants are more actively managing their accounts and have the potential to be better prepared for their financial future."
