COMPTROLLER'S MEMORANDUM NO. 99-19
April 23, 1999
TO THE HEADS OF ALL STATE AGENCIES
ATTENTION: Personnel and Payroll Officers
SUBJECT: 1999 Health Insurance Fairs
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information relative to the health insurance open enrollment fairs, which have been scheduled for the open enrollment period occurring between May 10 and May 28 for coverage effective July 1, 1999.
The fair schedule has been arranged to reach as many employees as possible; the statewide schedule is attached. Please share the schedule with your employees so that they may make plans accordingly.
For 1999, there are new plan options and rates, and a new carrier, MedSpan, has been added to those previously available. Employees should be encouraged to obtain information directly from the carriers at these fairs. Representatives from all the health insurance vendors (Anthem Blue Cross, Physicians Health Service, Kaiser Permanente, MedSpan Health Options, and CIGNA Dental) will attend the fairs and be available to disseminate information and answer questions regarding the specific benefits of the plans. Employees can also obtain important rate and benefit comparison information from the health care planner which is being mailed to them. Employees who desire to change, add or delete health insurance coverage must obtain the necessary forms from their agency personnel or payroll office.
Agency inquires pertaining to the health insurance fairs may be directed to the Comptroller's Retirement and Benefit Services Division, Health Care Analysis Unit at (860) 702-3535.
Very truly yours, |
