MEMORANDUM NO. 97-2

January 3, 1997

I. AUTHORITY:

In accordance with a request from the Union the initiation fee for new members will be increased from $25.00 to $50.00 effective January 1, 1997.

 

The number of installments will not increase.

 

1. The amount of the installment will increase from $5.00 to $10.00.

 

2. Instead of five payments of $5.00 each, there will be five payments of $10.00 each.

 

3. Because the change is not being implemented until the pay period following the effective date, employees hired January 1 or 2, 1997 will have two payment deductions of $5.00 (for check dates January 17 and March 14, 1997) and four at $10.00.

 

4. This change, if applicable, must be made in pay period January 3, 1997 through January 16, 1997 (check date January 31, 1997).

 

II. PAYROLL PROCEDURE:

 

Payroll Services will not make the change centrally. It must be made at the agency level.
