SUBJECT: | Social Security Personal Earnings & Benefit Estimate Statements |
This year the Social Security Administration began mailing a Personal Earnings and Benefit Estimate Statement (PEBES) to everyone age 60 and older who:
On a yearly basis thereafter, statements will be sent to individuals who reach age 60 during the year to help people nearing retirement become better informed about what they can expect to receive in social security benefits.
The PEBES will provide individuals with the following information:
We have been advised that the PEBES asks employees to call Social Security if they have any questions, however, many employees may contact your offices first.
Employees should be encouraged to contact the Social Security Administration first. If they insist, or they believe there is an error in their reported state earnings and you cannot resolve the problem please refer questions to Central Payroll at 566-7218.
Publication Number 20-003 (Employer Information Package) is available from the Social Security Administration for those of you who would like additional information.
