Subject: | Capital Equipment Purchase Fund |
I. PURPOSE
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide notification of a legislative change affecting the Capital Equipment Purchase Fund and of a new object coding to be used for certain data processing equipment.
II. AUTHORITY
A section of Public Act 01-7, June 2001 Special Session made a change to Section 4a-9 of the Connecticut General Statutes effective July 1, 2001.
III. PURCHASE OF DATA PROCESSING EQUIPMENT
The legislative change provides for the use of Capital Equipment Purchase Fund dollars for the procurement of data processing equipment under $1,000. "...a state agency may purchase necessary data processing equipment that has a unit price of less than one thousand dollars from the Capital Equipment Purchase Fund ... provided such equipment has a useful life of not less than five years."
IV. NEW CODING
The new coding for data processing equipment which has a unit price of less than $1,000 and a useful life of not less than five years is 09-140 - Data processing equipment.
V. GENERAL
The State Accounting Manual and the Property Control Manual will be revised to reflect this change.
