Component Units
The Component Units are organizations which are legally separate from the State of Connecticut and for which the State is financially accountable. The Component Units of the State of Connecticut are described as follows:
Connecticut Development Authority:
the Connecticut Development Authority is a public
instrumentality and political subdivision of the State. The Authority was
created to stimulate industrial and commercial development within the State
through its Self-Sustaining Bond Program, its Umbrella Program and its Insurance
Program.
Connecticut Housing Finance Authority:
the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority is a public
instrumentality and political subdivision of the State created for the purpose
of increasing the housing supply and encouraging and assisting in the purchase,
development and construction of housing for low and moderate income families
throughout the State.
Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority:
the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is a public
instrumentality and political subdivision of the State. The Authority is
responsible for implementing the State's solid waste management plan, which
includes design, construction and operation of resources recovery facilities and
the marketing of recovered products.
Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority:
the Connecticut Higher Education Supplementary Loan Authority is a public instrumentality and political
subdivision of the State. The Authority was created to assist students, their
parents and institutions of higher education to finance the cost of higher
education through its bond funds.
Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority:
the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority
is a public instrumentality and political subdivision of the State. The
Authority was created to assist certain health care institutions, institutions
of higher education, and qualified for-profit and not-for-profit institutions in
the financing and refinancing of projects to be undertaken in relation to
programs for these institutions.
Capital City Economic Development Authority:
the Capital City Economic Development Authority is a public instrumentality
of the state. The authority was created in 1998 to use municipal and state
financial resources for the purpose of building a variety of Hartford based
projects ranging from facilities to accommodate the exhibition, hospitality and
tourism industries to downtown residential housing.
Connecticut Innovations, Incorporated:
Connecticut Innovations is a public instrumentality and
political subdivision of the State. It was established to stimulate and promote
technological innovation and application of technology within Connecticut by
providing financial technical assistance.
