CALL TO ORDER
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:08 AM.
DIVISION DIRECTOR'S ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS
There are some housekeeping issues that need to be taken care of. There is need to schedule several Subcommittee meetings. The Personnel/Legal Subcommittee needs to meet. There is a vacancy on the subcommittee due to Stephen Caliendo's retirement in 2010. Michael Carey has volunteered to fill this vacancy. The Hazardous Duty Subcommittee will also need to meet to address several pending claims. And finally the Purchase Subcommittee was postponed in March and needs to be rescheduled. We will be contacting Trustees to check on available dates.
Following the close of the June 2011 Retirement Payroll, the current backlog of unfinalized Retirement records is approximately 11,637. The Division processed 382 new retirees to the payroll (358 normal and 24 disabilities). Finalizations for the month were 25.
As of May 31, 2011 we have 77 applications for Disability Retirement pending Division review, 264 applications are waiting for further documentation and 165 are scheduled for upcoming meetings. For the month of May, 37 applications were received, 29 were put on the agenda and 19 were approved. We are now reviewing June 2011 cases and our next available meeting is scheduled for January 2012. This may change as we have 3 new doctors on board and legislative changes have been made to allow retired doctors to be on the MEB. Natalie Braswell is working on the MOU with UCHC that will run from July 2011 to June of 2012.
