SUBCOMMITTEE ON REGULATIONS AND OVERPAYMENTS

MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 26, 2012 MEETING

TRUSTEES PRESENT:

Michael Carey, Charles Casella, Robert Coffey, Thomas Culley.

Brenda Halpin, Director, Retirement Services Division
Virginia Brown, Staff Attorney, Retirement Services Division

The meeting started at 2:10 p.m.

The Subcommittee discussed the following requests for waivers of the repayment of an overpayment.

Shirlene Lewis (SERS) - (member) - Overpayment due to agency error

Action: Mr. Coffey moved; Mr. Carey seconded to table action on this item until the next subcommittee meeting and requested the Division to obtain additional financial information from Ms. Lewis relative to her wavier request. Unanimous decision.

Rachel Bernier (MERS) - (member) - Overpayment due to agency error

Action: Mr. Casella moved; Mr. Coffey seconded to recommend approval of the waiver request. Unanimous decision.

Other Matters

The subcommittee directed the Division to establish written policy and procedures regarding the overpayment process. In addition several management reports were requested related to the Accounts Receivable process to be presented at the next subcommittee meeting.
