The meeting began at 12:30 p.m.
The Subcommittee discussed the following claims that had been administratively denied by the Retirement Services Division. All of the recommendations were unanimous.
Vincent DeRosa #340880 - Request received from Mr. DeRosa that his retirement
pension be recalculated with the inclusion of his mandatory overtime earnings
and as a result the 130% cap would not be applicable.
Action: Ms. Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend denial of
Mr. DeRosa's request for a recalculation of his retirement pension.
Scott Fieldhouse #528734 - Request received from Mr. Fieldhouse's widow that she
be allowed to receive pre-retirement survivor benefits from the State Employees
Retirement System (SERS).
Action: Ms.Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend denial of
Ms. Fieldhouse's request for pre-retirement survivor benefits following the
death of Mr. Fieldhouse.
John Fogg #372984 - Request received from Mr. Fogg, a June 1, 2003 retiree, to
change his income payment election option subsequent to the commencement of
retirement benefit.
Action: Ms. Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend denial of
Mr. Fogg's request to change his income payment election option.
Christina Gotowka #267268- Request received from Ms. Gotowka, an October 1, 2011
retiree, to change her income payment election option subsequent to the
commencement of her retirement benefit.
Action: Ms. Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend denial of
Ms. Gotowka's request to change her income payment election option.
Barbara Pearce #045122- Request received from Ms. Pearce that she be allowed to
rescind her SERS Tier IIA plan membership so that she may enroll in the Teachers
Retirement System (TRS).
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend
denial of Ms. Pearce's request that she be allowed to rescind her Tier IIA plan
membership for the purposes of enrolling in the TRS.
Donna Sampieri #380674- Request received from Ms. Sampieri that she be allowed
to transfer her SERS plan membership from Tier II to Tier I beyond the October
1, 1985 deadline associated with this type of action.
Action: Ms. Yelmini moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend
denial of Ms. Sampieri's request to transfer her SERS plan membership from Tier
II to Tier I.
Robert Whitman # 120583- Request received from Mr. Whitman that he be allowed to
rescind his 1981 spouse option election for the purpose of being able to elect a
different income payment election option at the time of retirement.
Action: Mr. Coffey moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend
denial of Mr. Whitman's request to rescind his 1981 spouse option election in
order to be able to elect a different income payment option at the time of
retirement.
