MINUTES OF May 5, 2015 MEETING

The meeting began at 10:05 a.m.
The Subcommittee discussed the following claims that had been administratively denied by the Retirement Services Division. All of the recommendations are unanimous unless noted accordingly.
Tim Bombard - Request received from Mr. Bombard that the Retirement Services Division accept his late request to "grandfather" his retirement date.
Action: Mr. Coffey moved, seconded by Mr. Casella to recommend tabling of
this matter to allow the Retirement Services Division to research this matter
further.
Barbara Carbino (Probate) - Request received from the family of Ms. Carbino that
a benefit payable under either the 10 year period certain or 20 year period
certain option be processed following Ms. Carbino's death as an active employee
with the Probate Court.
Action: Mr. McLellan moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend tabling
this matter for the purpose of giving the Retirement Services Division an
opportunity to discuss this matter with the claimants' attorney.
Victor Nelson ? Request received on behalf of Mr. Nelson that he be approved to
receive a vested rights retirement benefit retroactive to May 1, 2008 the first
of the month following his 65th birthday.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of
the request made on behalf of Mr. Nelson that he be allowed to receive a
retirement benefit retroactive to May 1, 2008.
Gary Soracchi - Request received from Mr. Soracchi that he be allowed to
purchase his prior out of state service with the State of Florida for additional
retirement credit purposes in SERS Tier IIA.
Action: Mr. McLellan moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of Mr. Soracchi's request to purchase his prior out of state service with the State of Florida.
John Verderame (MERS) - Request received from Mr. Verderame that his late
retirement application received by the Retirement Services Division on December
23, 2014 be approved with the retirement date of December 6, 2013, his date of
termination from employment.
Action: Mr. Casella moved, seconded by Mr. Coffey to recommend denial of
Mr. Verderame's request that his effective date of retirement was made
retroactive to December 6, 2013, his date of termination.
