MEDICAL EXAMINING BOARD
FRIDAY, December 20, 2013
A Meeting of the Medical Examining Board was held on Friday, December 20, 2013, at the office of the State Comptroller, 55 Elm Street, Room 208, Hartford, Connecticut, 06106.
PRESENT:

Please note that a portion of the meeting was conducted in executive session as the focus of the meeting was the medical condition(s) of each Disability Retirement applicant.
CALL TO ORDER
The Chairperson called meeting to order at 9:04 am.
Dr. Samson motioned to go into the Executive Session to discuss medical
condition(s) related to the applications for Disability Retirement, seconded by
Dr. Buchanan at 9:06 am. Members of the Retirement Services Division were
allowed to remain.
Dr. Samson motioned to come out of Executive Session, seconded by Dr.
Buchanan at 1:18 pm.
JOANNE AKCER D- 10881 NON-SERVICE CONNECTED(RECONSIDERATION)
Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to stand by the Board's previous
decision to deny Joanne Akcer's entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement.
Motion approved unanimously.
SOULYN ALEXANDER D- 11477 SERVICE CONNECTED
Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to deny Soulyn Alexander's
entitlement to Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.
SHARON BRAZEAL D- 10955 SERVICE CONNECTED
Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve Sharon Brazeal's
entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve Marc Cheney's entitlement
to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve Mark Crossman's
entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.
VIRGINIA DEVORCE D- 11466 NON-SERVICE CONNECTED
Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve Virginia Devorce's
entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.
ANGELA DIAZ D- 10964 SERVICE-CONNECTED (RECONSIDERATION)
Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to stand by the Board's previous
decision to deny Angela Diaz's entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement.
Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to deny Sandra Fletcher's
entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve Peter Gilmore's
entitlement to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve Mary Jo Gleason's
entitlement to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve Edith Hart's entitlement
to Service-Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to stand by the Board's previous
decision to deny Joyce Johnson's entitlement to Non-Service Connected
Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to stand by the Board's previous

Dr. Buchanan moved, seconded by Dr. Singer, to approve James Lipke's entitlement
to Non-Service Connected Retirement. Motion approved unanimously.
